Jordan Peele Goes Full Horror with ‘Get Out’

Jordan Peele, of Key and Peele fame, has released the first trailer for his latest film, Get Out. The film is a stark departure from the kind of work we typically think of when we think of the director, as it appears to be going for a straight horror vibe. The film follows couple Rose (Allison Williams, Girls) and Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) on a road trip to meet Allison’s parents. Once in the upscale suburban neighborhood, Chris begins to suspect something is terribly wrong. At first glance, Get Out appears to be a satirical take on race relations in America, and the film gives off a distinct Stepford Wives vibe. Also starring Bradley Whitford, Get Out opens February 24, 2017.

Netflix released the first teaser for their upcoming adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. While the teaser shows us almost nothing from the actual series, they’ve gone to great lengths to introduce the fourth-wall-breaking comedy that the book series has become known for, with Patrick Warburton (Ted) portraying the in-novel author Lemony Snicket warning us away from the series while standing on the empty lot where the Netflix series is filmed. Even if you don’t have much interest in the series, its Wonderful World of Disney vibe is an interesting way to tease the new show, which debuts on the streaming platform on Friday, January 13, 2017.

Fresh off their work in Deepwater Horizon, director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg take on another tragedy still fresh in the collective psyche of Americans. Patriots Day, a look at the days and immediate aftermath of the Boston bombing of 2013. The trailer shows about what you’ve come to expect from Berg—Wahlberg is a heroic figure, tense moments, human drama—though this trend of making films about events which still linger in the minds of our culture is a bit…odd? Patriots Day hits theaters on January 13, 2017.
