SONG PREMIERE: Dojo Embrace Spirituality With Worldly Reggae Single “Bethel”

Dojo are a collective of jazz and reggae musicians hailing from London, Paris, Nigeria and Lebanon, who are set to release their highly-anticipated new single “Bethel” on 25th November 2016. This is the first single taken from their forthcoming album Gaia due for release on December 9th. Today we are excited to offer up an exclusive premiere of “Bethel” right here on Glide Magazine

“Bethel” is a beautiful ode to non-religious spirituality, which resonates heavily with Dojo’s members – all of whom come from a range of diverse faiths. With a harmonious belief that although each faith’s interpretation of spirituality is different, they are united through an appreciation of its role. “Bethel” encourages the listener to embrace spirituality outside the construct of formal religion, in a very personal way. Or as the band puts it, “for all of us, these feelings are explored through music and an appreciation of the beautiful world around us.” Dojo are creating a sound that injects upbeat reggae rhythms into their 21st century political outlook. The addition of smooth melodies from lead vocalist Mileva Corenthin intertwines perfectly to produce the harmony and unity their spirituality searches for.

Reflecting on the single, the members of Dojo have this to say:

“Bethel” is about non-religious spirituality. Dojo contains members that are Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and Atheist, and while our interpretation of spirituality is different we’re united by our appreciation of its role. Bethel encourages the listener to embrace spirituality outside the construct of a formal religion, in a very personal way. For all of us, these feelings are explored through music and an appreciation of the beautiful world around us. Bethel’s message is to find the thing that gives you spiritual satisfaction, unaffected by outside influences, and celebrate it.
