Sweet Jane is Lydia Des Dolles, Danda & Ruairi Paxton and Donagh O’Brien-— a talented group of musicians and vocalists based in Ireland who came together in 2008 after a chance collaboration which ultimately lead to the recording of their widely received EP Blackboots and Blackhearts and their debut album Sugar for my Soul. Described as an energetic roller coaster of sleazy guitars, achingly sexy vocals (split between Lydia and Danda) and topped off with their trademark “dream-pop rock n roll,” Sweet Jane has now unveiled the video for their hauntingly beautiful version of the 1967 song “Nights in White Satin” by the world renowned English rock band The Moody Blues, exclusively on Glide Magazine.
The video, directed by Jessie Ward, was shot in Dublin’s Phoenix Park— one of the largest designed landscapes in any European city. Originally from California, Jessie earned her bachelor’s degree in film & TV production at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and after five years working in video and multimedia production in New York City, she relocated to Dublin. There she completed a master’s degree in Interactive Media from Dublin Institute of Technology.
The band has toured with Suede, Glasvegas, Black Rebel Motorcycle club, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Kills, White Lies, The Duke Spirit, and The Besnard Lakes. Sweet Jane’s lead singer Lydia Des Dolles was also featured in Universal Music’s collaboration with various artists on a cover of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ in aid of relief for Japan’s Tsumami victims. Currently the band is residing at Grouse Lodge recording Studios working on their second album alongside Grammy Award winning producer Pat McCarthy (REM, Madonna, Lou Reed, U2, Spiritualized, Patti Smith, Metallica).
