Lazy Boy TV is the debut album from Lazyboy, that combines words and music in a bizarre social commentary on the state of world affairs. Behind dialog, the music blares like an infomercial at 4am, when you’ve fallen asleep with the TV on, and you’re still awake enough to absorb static into your subconscious.
If Dan Rather fronted a dance group, Lazy Boy could be it. From a humorous look at rolling joints, to obscure sex facts, obesity and fast food, Lazy Boy is the media put to music. Different voices, including singer Andrea Grant, provide glimpses of soul amongst the newscaster commentary mixed with catchy dance beats. “Man Woman" throws blows at both sexes, while “Inhale Positively” shares the secrets of a happy life over a disco friendly groove. Problem is, the music on Lazy Boy isn’t as original as the text, causing an odd battleground of what Lazy Boy is actually good for – self help, therapy or dancing?
Lazy Boy is a fun listen, but like a good Jerky Boys tape, it might not be that endearing two or three listens later. Either way, its worth a try once, just to help attempt make sense of it all.
Why don’t woman blink during foreplay? They don’t have the time.
