Last Week’s Sauce: June 14th – June 20th

Artist & Title: Marco Benevento Trio & Steve Kimock – Sunshine Of Your Love > Get Back
Date & Venue: 2010-06-17 River St. Jazz Cafe – Plains, PA
Taper & Show Download: Keith Litzenberger

Marco has been getting a lot of love on Last Week’s Sauce lately, mostly because his new album is fantastic and there are always great tapes floating around after his shows. Since we have been showcasing a number of Marco originals I thought it would be nice to mix it up and include this Cream/The Beatles combo which also features Steve Kimock on guitar. It fucking rips, there is a little bit of Led Zeppelin in there too. The Marco Benevento Trio play tonight with Surprise Me Mr. Davis at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle, WA.

Video of Sunshine Of Your Live:

Artist & Title: Perpetual Groove – Downside
Date & Venue: 2010-06-19 Culture Room – Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Taper & Show Download: Daryl J. Wolff

We’ve also given a lot of much deserved attention to Perpetual Groove’s new release Heal. This tune however has not yet made it to Last Week’s Sauce. Don’t let the mellow intro and slower tempo fool you, this track clocks in at a tasty nine minutes and there is a lot going on. PGroove next plays at Athfest in June 26th.

Video of Get Down Tonight from three nights earlier in Orlando:

Artist & Title: Phish – Halfway To The Moon
Date & Venue: 2010-06-19 SPAC – Saratoga Springs, NY
Taper & Show Download: Andy Murray

I haven’t heard a better description of this tune than, “It’s like Beauty Of A Broken Heart meets The Moma Dance”, I thought that was pretty good. If you’ve got a better one, please let us know. Phish plays the first of two shows tonight in scenic Camden, NJ.

  1. Nice piece on a great band,Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and happy to see you appreciate and credit tapers. Excellent job by jt/ny.

BUT the venue isn’t in Portland, Oregon.
    It’s in Cleveland, Ohio.

Just thought you might want to fix that.
