Panic Archives Opens For Johnson City

The fifth installment of Widespread Panic Archives’ multi-track release series features the group’s entire show from November 20, 2001 at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN. WPA #5 is now available for pre-order at Widespread Panic Merchandise and will hit record stores and LiveWidespreadPanic.com on November 19th.

Widespread Panic’s front-of-house engineer Chris Rabold both recorded and mixed this show for its release. Archivist Horace Moore blogs about Rabold’s role in the band at that time and in mixing this show for the Archives’ blog.

Notable moments at this Mikey-heavy performance include a rare rendition of New Blue, jammed out versions of Airplane and Pigeons as well as smokin’ covers of Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, She Caught The Katy and It Ain’t No Use. There’s even a Happy Birthday dedication to drummer Todd Nance.
