As the flood of year-end album lists continues to roll in (yeah, yeah, we’re working on it), one album that seems to be popping up with some regularity is the recent release from The Mynabirds, What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood. Using loping, piano-driven country songs as their vessel, The Mynabirds traverse pretty familiar territory, but with a captivating vocalist in Laura Burhenn, they grab folks along for the ride with their R&B country sound. Burhenn will also contribute vocals on the forthcoming release The People’s Key from fellow Saddle Creek alum, Bright Eyes. Hence, it should be a big year for The Mynabirds.
