Friday’s Leftovers: MMW’s 20th Anniversary

Avant jazz-jammers Medeski, Martin and Wood are celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year and today announced the start of that celebration. MMW will play ten shows out West this March in which the first set will consist of fan requests while the second set will be a nod to the improvisational shack party days with special guests to be announced. You can leave your song requests on the band’s Facebook Page or by sending a list of the three songs you want to hear to [email protected].

The band also announced that they will hit the studio to record 20 tracks to be released monthly until the end of the year. MMW promises more details and dates to follow. Head over to MMW.net for the full list of tour dates.

Finally, moe. was joined by pedal steel ace Robert Randolph last night at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Randolph joined the indie-jammers for Brent Black and CalifornIA. The band also revisited Al’s Silver Sun tune that they debuted at the Electric Lemoe.nade Acid Test Halloween Show and busted out an electric Queen of the Rodeo for the first time in nearly six years.

  1. There have been a number shows in the past couple of months that I would have gone to if they hadn’t been at T5. That place is the worst. Horrible sound, lousy sight lines. With so many great venues in NYC I don’t understand why so many bands are playing there. Or why people are going…
