Friday’s Leftovers: Neil Young Tribute

The Michael Dorf-produced Neil Young Tribute took place at Carnegie Hall last night and our friends at Thrasher’s Wheat have a full report on the event. Among the highlights were Joan Osborne singing Old Man, J Mascis tackling Cortez The Killer, Sugar Mountain by The Wood Brothers, Keller Williams’ version of Comes A Time, Evan Dando and Juliana Hatfield tearing into Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River by The Roots and an all-star finale featuring all the performers on Hey, Hey, My, My (Into The Black).

Rolling Stone also has a good article on the tribute.

Finally, Paul Liberatore of the Marin Independent Journal published a few incredibly interesting excerpts from Sammy Hagar’s forthcoming autobiography Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock and as you can imagine, Hagar has some great stories to tell. Check it out for Sammy’s take on Eddie Van Halen in 2003 and David Lee Roth. [via Blabbermouth]
