Briefly: Phish ‘Two Soundchecks’ on Vinyl

Phish will support independent record retailers by taking part in Record Store Day on April 16th and releasing TWO SOUNDCHECKS – a limited-edition 7″ vinyl release that will feature the soundcheck from the band’s August 7th, 2010 performance at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA on the A-side and the soundcheck from the group’s August 14th, 2009 show in Hartford, CT on the B-side. This marks the band’s first-ever live vinyl release.

Here’s more info from the Phish Facebook Page

This 7-inch is limited to 2,000 hand-numbered copies, and once they are gone they are gone. The A-Side is an instrumental jam culled from the soundcheck of Phish’s third show of a sold out three-night stand at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. The B-Side is an especially exotic soundcheck from Hartford, CT in 2009, featuring Trey on Bass, and Fish on drums. This Limited Edition 7-inch was created exclusively for Record Store Day.

TWO SOUNDCHECKS will be available in stores only beginning April 16th, 2011. For a complete list of participating record stores, please click here.

Phish fans may be familiar with the Hartford soundcheck as the group has been offering a free MP3 download of the track since a few days after the show.

I love the Hartford soundcheck. My 2 lil’ girls sing it quite often still. 😉

If you plan on purchasing this vinyl, please LISTEN to it and don’t treat it like a Pollack forever shielded from human eyes in a cardboard tube.

IF you are gonna listen and wanna download that vintage cracklin vinyl sound on to your PC, may I recommend this:
