My Bloody Valentine’s Shields Returns

Kevin Shields, the mastermind behind critically acclaimed but long-dormant rock group My Bloody Valentine, will release his first new music in more than a decade on the soundtrack for the forthcoming Sofia Coppola film “Lost in Translation.”

Shields, who has been playing with Primal Scream for the past few years, last penned and released original music on My Bloody Valentine’s 1991 classic, “Loveless” (Sire/Creation). The band signed with Island shortly after the release of that widely influential album, but years of sessions for a follow-up were aborted and the group dissolved in the mid-’90s.
