Wavy Gravy’s 75th Birthday Celebrations – Weir, Hart, Kimock, Browne and Jorma

Activist and scene fixture Wavy Gravy will celebrate his 75th birthday in style come May, when he hosts a bi-coastal series of concerts. On May 14, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart will headline a show called Wavy Gravy’s Birthday Boogie at Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, CA. Barry Sless, Bobby Vega, Henry Kaiser, Jeff Chimenti, John Molo, Mark Karan, Nicki Bluhm, Pete Sears, Steve Kimock and Robin Sylvester are slated to sit in at some point during Bobby and Mickey’s set. The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Zero, Ace of Cups, Clown Conspiracy and Hot Buttered Rum will also perform on the 14th.

On May 27, Wavy will host a concert at the Beacon Theatre in NYC featuring Jackson Browne, Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle & Alison Moorer, Bruce Hornsby, Dr. John, Jorma Kaukonen, Steve Kimock and Buffy Sanite-Marie with more artists to be added to the bill later. Proceeds from both shows, which should each be heavy on special guests, will benefit the Seva Foundation. Tickets for the Beacon show go on sale March 25.

  1. your headline reads, “Wavy Gravy’s 75th Birthday Celebrations – Weir, Lesh, Kimock, Browne and Jorma,” yet I see no mention of Phil Lesh at either gigs. Phil and anti-grav Kimock, probably not with Jill around.
