The New Deal Farewell Tour Begins

Last month jamtronica faves the New Deal announced that 2011 will mark the end of the band’s 12-year career. While that time period has been extended to include a farewell show on Jam Cruise 10 in January, there won’t be many chances to catch tND before they go their separate ways.

The Canadian trio kicked off a brief East Coast run last night at The National in Richmond, VA along with Sub Swara and Former Champions. Among the jams that made up the bulk of the show, the New Deal worked in classic tunes VL Tone and Gone, Gone, Gone along with the newish Octobong. You can listen to a fantastic recording of the show, including the soundcheck, via the Live Music Archive.

Next up for the New Deal is a show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia this evening followed by a performance at Bourbon Street in Baltimore on Friday. The run concludes on Saturday at Terminal 5 in New York City. OTT and Sub Swara open each show. Look for a New Deal feature on HT soon.
