Phish Soundboard Track From 2000 Surfaces

Just before Phish hit the road last June, a collection of soundboard tracks recorded at previous shows the band had played at venues they were hitting on that upcoming tour surfaced as part of the Past Summer Tour compilation. The tracks were distributed by promoters in emails, through Ticketmaster’s website and in various other ways leading to a scavenger hunt of sorts for fans who wanted to hear all the tracks.

With plenty of tickets available to many of the shows on this summer’s tour we had a feeling Phish would once again share some gems from the vault and today we get our first taste of the second Past Summer Tour compilation.

On tonight’s episode of the Endless Boundaries radio program the killer Twist > Slave To The Traffic Light sequence from Phish’s July 4, 2000 performance in Camden, NJ was debuted. DJ Jay went a step further and shared the MP3 of the track and offered this explanation of its origins on the program’s message board

With summer tour two weeks away, phish set to release summer tour 12 track compilation end of next week on http://www.livephish.com – here’s an advanced track which happened in our backyard on july 4th, 2000

So it looks like we won’t have to search as hard for this year’s compilation and our thoughts can turn to predictions of which tracks will make the cut. If you haven’t heard last year’s compilation, here’s a link courtesy of our pal Duanebase, who led in the way in finding the tracks that made up Past Summer Compilation Vol. 1. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more information or download links for this year’s mix.

UPDATE: Here’s what has been found so far…

7/4/00 – Twist > Slave to the Traffic Light

6/6/96 – Scent of a Mule

7/9/99 – Free > What’s The Use?

7/13/99 – N02

Duanebase has compiled all the files: Sendspace / Mediafire

  1. after putting in password for 7-4 dload, file doesnt seem to be working, keep getting error message… file possibly removed

  2. Man, maybe they are just saving that night’s Gotta Jibboo>Saw it Again>Magilla for the box set. I love this Twist>Slave and the Runaway Jim from the night before that they released last year, but come on, that Jibboo was the highlight of those two nights in Camden.

  3. I’m hoping they round out that ’00 MPP show by releasing the Mango>Jam>Free. Or the ’99 Mike’s w Sweet Emotion jam

  4. Crossing my fingers for the fantastic Split > Kung > Jam from Holmdell ’99 – the one that Fishman starts as 2001 before Mike brings in the Split bassline. Don’t know if the boys have the sense of humor to release a “mistake” but it leads to a smokin’, and highly original, version.

  5. Thanks a lot for the links.. surprised the trickle has stopped though. Hopefully we get some more soon
