Video: Beirut – East Harlem

Rife with the old world sounds of Eastern European folk music, Beirut is the brainchild of Zach Condon, a New Mexico native, who at the age of 19 released his critically acclaimed debut album Gulag Orkestar in 2006. The record didn’t have any guitar on it, but instead featured a slew of exuberant off-beat sounds from brass instruments, violins, cellos, ukuleles, mandolins, glockenspiels, drums, tambourines, congas, organs, pianos and clarinets. This summer the band released their third studio album, The Rip Tide, and stopped by The Late Show With David Letterman last week, where they performed East Harlem. Let’s check it out…
