Friday Mix Tape: Our Fifth Birthday

Well as you may have heard, Hidden Track went through a little bit of a redesign and a pretty major birthday this week – and since it was my turn in the Friday Mix Tape rotation, I couldn’t resist having a little more fun with the fact that we have been around for five years now.

So leading off this week’s mix is Five On The Five by The Raconteurs, the only song I could find that used five twice. For some fuzzy math, we turn to Radiohead and their track 2+2=5. While we took a look at five covers of Five Years for this week’s Cover Wars, we didn’t get to include the original by David Bowie, so that is here of course – well actually a killer live version. Batting cleanup is Walter Murphy’s A Fifth Of Beethoven, a super funky arrangement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. Phish’s cover of The Who’s 5:15 comes next and I just couldn’t help myself from closing out your mix with Lou Bega’s 1999 classic Mambo No. 5. You’re welcome.
