Widespread Panic Goes Unplugged For Wood Tour

Widespread Panic has hit the road hard in 2011 for their 25th Anniversary Tour and the heavy touring will continue into 2012 with the announcement of the all-acoustic Wood Tour. This 11-gig tour, along with the Panic en la Playa performances in Mexico, will be the only shows of 2012 for the jam titans before they begin an indefinite hiatus.

While Panic has played acoustic sets before, namely at the Sit-n-Ski Tour of 1996, the Wood Tour will be the band’s first-ever fully acoustic tour. The Wood Tour starts off at the new Fillmore DC in Silver Spring, Maryland on January 24 and 25 and continues at The Tabernacle in Atlanta on January 27, 28 and 29. From there, the band jets to Mexico for Panic En La Playa before finishing The Wood Tour in Denver (Feb. 10 – 12) and Aspen (Feb. 17 – 19). Tickets for The Wood Tour go on sale next month.

In other Widespread Panic news, the band’s sold-out Halloween show will be broadcast live from the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago by WXRT. John Bell and Co. usually bust out a variety of fun covers on Halloween, so we look forward to seeing what they have in store this time around. Showtime should be close to 7:30PM CT on October 31.
