Video: Hoots & Hellmouth – Why Would You Not Want To Go There?

With the Americana boom of the last few years, it seemed appropriate to check in with Hoots & Hellmouth, who we first featured as a selection for our long dormant Blips column (something we plan to remedy in the near future) some three years ago. The Philadelphia-based act have matured a bit of late, developing a sound that not only incorporates their knack for foot-stomping, gospel-infused folk, but now features some mellower introspective songs courtesy of of lead singer Sean Hoots, who draws you in with earnest and heartfelt vocals.

Earlier this week the band released their latest studio album Salt, which should appeal to fans of The Avett Brothers’ recent work, and have also released the music video for the record’s lead track Why Would You Not Want To Go There? Let’s check it out…

Hoots & Hellmouth kick off their cross-country summer tour on May 17, at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Mich., which includes a high profile stop at Floyd Fest this July.
