Grateful Dead Putting “Live At The Cow Palace” To Disc

It’s been nearly 30 years since the Grateful Dead performed a New Year’s Eve concert at San Francisco’s Cow Palace. To commemorate the event, Rhino will on Jan. 23 release "Live at the Cow Palace," a triple-disc set featuring the Dead’s complete 22-song performance.

Beyond Dead favorites like "Morning Dew," "Bertha" and "Sugar Magnolia" (the latter of which is topped with a 40-minute jam), the show sports covers of Chuck Berry’s "Promised Land" and Merle Haggard’s "Mama Tried." The band played three sets that evening, with a three-song encore of "One More Saturday Night," "Uncle John’s Band" and "We Bid You Goodnight."

"Live at the Cow Palace" will be streaming in its entirety on the Grateful Dead Web site on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
