S.S. Coachella To Set Sail Twice This December

Goldenvoice, the promoters behind the famed Coachella Festival, are taking the long-running event to the high seas this December. S.S. Coachella, aka The Celebrity Silhouette, will make two trips from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean boasting indie/dance friendly acts such as Girl Talk, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Yeasayer, Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells and Pulp. The first trip, a three-day cruise, will leave Fort Lauderdale for the Bahamas on the 16th, while a four-day trip, which visits Jamaica, will depart Fort Lauderdale on December 19th according to a report by the New York Times.

Here’s the full initial lineup:

Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, James Murphy (DJ Set), Sleigh Bells, Simian Mobile Disco, Z-Trip, !!!, Warpaint, DJ Harvey, EL-P, Killer Mike, Black Lips, The Gaslamp Killer, Grimes, Cloud Nothings, Jason Bentley, The Rapture, Father John Misty, Tokimonsta, Alf Alpha

The prices start at about $500 a person and are expected to run upwards of $9,000 for a “sky suite.” Just like other floating concerts such as Jam Cruise and Sixthman’s many full-ship charters, S.S. Coachella attendees can participate in activities that go beyond the music such as a wine tasting with James Murphy, a live DJ tutorial and a D.I.Y. arts n’ crafts workshop. All in all, Goldenvoice will make use of four venues – the pool deck, the intimate sky lounge, the large silhouette theater and the artificial “lawn club.” Reservations go on sale this Saturday through the Coachella website.

  1. I love you Hidden Track, but Sixthman actually pioneered the music festival at sea and is the industry leader in producing events on cruise ships. The Rock Boat came before Jam Cruise and Sixthman has produced 45 full ship charters, serviced 85K guests, and is responsible for over 400,000 vacation days at sea. They were named the #1 fastest growing travel company by INC Magazine and are listed as the #87th fastest growing company in America on the INC 500. Kid Rock, John Mayer, 311, Kiss, Lyle Lovett, and Lynyrd Skynyrd are just a few of the several hundred bands that have sailed with Sixthman…..
