Bob Weir and Sammy Hagar To Guest At Veterans Benefit

This Friday, a little-known band called The Mooncussers, which is led by CNBC senior economics reporter Steve Liesman, and mostly plays covers, will perform at the recently re-opened Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, Calif. along with special guests Bob Weir, Jeff Chimenti and Sammy Hagar. The show is a benefit for wounded veterans via the Coming Home Project.

Liesman and Weir met each other at a Dead show in the ’80s and recently reconnected when the reporter profiled Weir for a couple of CNBC stories. Bobby, who is a partner in Sweetwater Music Hall, was happy to lend a hand in the name of veterans. Tickets aren’t cheap as they run $200 unless you’re a veteran with Military ID in which case they’ll set you back $75.

Speaking of Weir and Sweetwater, the club hosted a surprise birthday party for the short-short loving rhythm guitarist last night. According to Jambands.com, Hagar and Phil Lesh were among the 100 Weir friends and family in attendance to watch Jackie Greene and his band perform. Weir, Lukas Nelson and Chimenti also played at points during the three-set show.
