Common, the Decemberists, Television, Neko Case and Cassandra Wilson are among the headliners for the 2007 season of New York’s Central Park Summerstage. The series will open June 15 with jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson. The full lineup will be announced in mid-May.
Television will play its first area show in quite some time on June 16 with Dragons Of Zynth, while Case and Eric Bachmann will perform July 20. Comedian Dave Attell will anchor a night of stand-up on June 22, while July 29 will play host to a 25th anniversary celebration of the film "Wild Style," which chronicles the hip-hop explosion in the South Bronx.
The Chief Rocker Busy Bee, the Cold Crush Brothers, Grand Master Caz and DJ Grand Wizzard Theodore will perform that night, following a screening of the film.
Meanwhile, ticket sales from two benefit shows will raise funds for Summerstage: Common, Joss Stone and Ryan Shaw on June 8, and the Decemberists with Grizzly Bear on July 16. The remainder of the Summerstage performances are free, with admission on a first come, first served basis.
