The Thieves Tales From The White LineBy Shane HandlerAugust 03, 2005

The Thieves probably want you to believe that they are the last great rock band standing. Like The Darkness who have rekindled the lore of Queen and Thin Lizzy, The Thieves strive on proving that rock and roll is meant to be good clean fun. With lines like "gimme some lip boy and I’ll give you a reason" pumped next to raise your lighter melodies and fist pumping choruses, The Theives could indeed be the next great rock band. However, aside from the hooks and swagger, The Thieves can use some fine tuning on their full length debut Tales From The White Line.
The Thieves mix up their influences as they toy with new-wave flashes in "Just A Place," with splashy keyboard effects that sounds like The Killers. The Bonham drum into of "Oh, No" enjoys a late 70’s infused rock hook that draws the line between pop and metal. And "You Get It Easy" is the run-away hit song with its walking bass line and a raise your fist anthem. However, the Thieves get run down in their influences and the album cries for the band to find a voice of their own. Through all the hooks and swagger, Tales From The White Line goes as good with beer as Skynyrd and might be heard on a podcast near you.
