 Across the Bridge

With the breakup of Colorado’s Leftover Salmon last year, many fans wondered what would become of its beloved “Cajun Slamgrass” band members. Drew Emmitt, lead vocalist and mandolinist for Leftover Salmon, began touring with a band he compiled, focused on a more traditional style bluegrass. Consisting of some exceptional Colorado musicians; Matt Flinner, banjo; Greg Garrison, bass; and Colorado’s infamous guitar wizard, Ross Martin, this talented group of musicians has really separated themselves from other “Newgrass” acts out there today.

His sophomore solo release, Across the Bridge, features blistering bluegrass numbers like "All Night Ride" and the beautiful country sounds of "Reach Out For Me." Emmitt has really put himself on another level with his poignant songwriting skills, notably "Cross That Bridge," and the infectious ditty, "This House." But it's his high lonesome vocals that make this album so refreshing to listen to.

The bluegrass instrumentals, "Big Ice (Flinner)" and "Silvanite," storm right alongside reworked versions of Bob Dylan’s, "Meet Me In The Morning," Little Feat’s, "All That You Dream," and Leftover Salmon’s, "Out In The Woods. And it's a typical bluegrass family affair, as many talented guests are showcased, such as Del and Ronnie McCoury, John Cowan, Sam Bush, and Paul Barrere.

He's been around a while, but Across The Bridge solidifies the new Drew Emmitt Band as a force to be reckoned with on the bluegrass scene.
