Syd Barrett: Under Review An Independent Critical AnalysisBy Keith HannaleckMarch 09, 2006

I got a history lesson on Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett watching this DVD, but there’s one problem - is any of what I absorbed true? This film is an independent critical review, and any interviews, opinions and or information provided on this DVD are not authorized by Syd Barrret, his family, or members of Pink Floyd. So the validity of the filmmakers vision may basically be out the window. But it is the “limited collector’s edition,” so that may entice you a bit anyway.
While that disclaimer may sound a bit discouraging, fear not, the film is still enjoyable with some rare footage of Barrett performing and interesting tidbits of information nevertheless. Whether what I found out about Barrett and Pink Floyd is total fact may be irrelevant anyway, as the basis here is primarily emphasize the importance he held in Pink Floyd. I knew he was a key component in getting the band off the ground in the late 60s, but this DVD just magnified that importance and meaning tenfold.
It’s a rare look inside the band, but if you’re hoping for all the questions to be answered regarding his departure from the face of the earth, you won’t find those concrete reasons here - just more speculation.
