Eagles of Death Metal

Death By Sexy

Once again on the heels of another hot summer, we get the second release from everyone’s favorite party rock/strip club soundtrack band – Eagles of Death Metal. Led by Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and his buddy Jesse Hughes, the duo bust out good drinking music – nothing fancy, Budweiser, maybe a Corona if you’re stretching it - on their sophomore effort, Death By Sexy.

“I want you so hard, I want you so good” leads off the testosterone amped lyrics followed closely by “I got a feelin chu wanna come over/I get chu here then I will make you roll over/now look baby you’re just 19.” Yes, the twisted classic rock blues riffs are as familiar as an AC/DC cover band and the lyrics are as indulgent as a Scott Stapp/Kid Rock DVD. The music here is simple, fuzzy and grinding and its not until the ninth track, “Poor Doggie” where the beats gets hot enough for a wet t-shirt contest. If you enter Death By Sexy without serious expectations, Eagles of Death Metal is a damn good time. If you’re expecting something in return, you’ll be going home disappointed – kind of like that strip club in the other end of town.
