Green Light Patient Like the MoonBy Jamie LeeMay 19, 2006

Listening to Green Light is akin to speeding down the highway without a seatbelt – there is comfort, yet inherent danger. The Charlotte, N.C. trio champions a progressive blend of jazz and rock, which is well defined on their third full-length offering, Patient Like the Moon. The instrumental collection breaks down boundaries with each beat, turning familiar grooves into pulpits for fine-tuned, prodigious forays into music's outer-limits. "Action Packed" offers tried-and-true funk that quickly dissipates beneath Kevin Gill's avante-guitar, much like the playful "Swimming Pool of Bliss," a number that shakes and shuffles before veering off in a hazy amble. Like any intelligent music of this nature, some tracks tickle the brink of cohesion, like the chugging, raucous "Ballerina Skeleton;" however, Patient Like the Moon ultimately shows that Green light is flashing with talent.
