Ryan Montbleau’s latest release One Fine Color is a musical journey that snakes its way through Ryan’s powerful vocals and lyrically smooth songwriting, while woven together into a rich musical feel that taps into a variety of both familiar and new sounds. This Boston based songwriter is creating quite the stir in the northeast, and One Fine Color clearly reveals why. Montbleau’s vocal timbre has great range, and at times his fluctuations clearly resemble Stevie Wonder.
The title track is one of the more enjoyable, while “It’s all been Done Before” sticks upon first listen, proving that the strength of
One Fine Color lies in its opening songs. There are some quality moments in the posterior of the album, but in all honesty this release is frontloaded. Montbleau might easily be touring with the likes of Ben Harper or Dave Matthews in the foreseeable future, as their fanbases could easily overlap. We’ll certainly be hearing a lot more from this rising singer/songwriter.
