Ernie Hendrickson and the Make Believe

Only A Dream

Is it possible for a band to rock out without burying their mistakes under heavy distortion? Yes, if you play in the Make Believe. This Chicago quartet annihilates today’s pop trend of dumb rock, with their technical prowess mixed with a fine warmth, and clever songwriting. And it's all done in a breadth of styles, from reggae and Steely Dan grooves to uptempo rock and even some high speed trance, all with seasoned ease.

Hendrickson's emotionally crafted lyrics lay atop his eclectic guitar work - playing that could just as easily fit within a fusion metal band as it could a smooth top forty hit. Drummer Brian Abraham’s sharp attack and bassist Chris Clemente's heavy thumping dexterity maintain a tight pocket that leaves just enough space for keyboardist Brian Felix to fill in the holes. Together, they are a cohesive unit that knows how to listen and knows when to play - regardless of which genre they happen to be hitting at the time.
