The Books Book Big U.S. Tour

Indie-pop duo The Books have laid plans for a three-month North American tour starting the first day of March, with more than 40 dates currently on the itinerary.

The New Yorkers will set things in motion with a March 1 show in Northampton, MA, before tackling the rest of the extensive club and campus tour, which crisscrosses the continent more than once before landing the band back in its hometown at the end of May.

Support acts for the tour have been announced so far for only a handful of shows. Death Vessel will open for the first batch of March dates, and Jose Gonzalez will also join in later in that month. The Books will share a bill with Califone (tickets | music) for a March 17 concert at Los Angeles's Getty Museum.

The Books--comprised of Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong--are still touring in support of their 2005 album, "Lost and Safe," and don't appear to currently have any new studio recordings in the pipeline. The duo has been keeping busy of late with a European tour, full details of which can be gleaned from the band's website.

The band released its debut album, "Thought For Food," in 2002, and followed it up a year later with "The Lemon of Pink."

Death Vessel released its debut album, "Stay Close," last year. Singer Jose Gonzalez has released several albums in his native land of Sweden; his American debut, "Veneer," hit stores last August.
