With the arrival of September and fall just around the corner, here’s a review of the golden lager I brewed back in January. This light refresher treated me pretty well on some of those hot New England days we had.

Directions:
Combine the malt extract, gypsum and boiling hops with 1 1/2 gallons of water and bring to a boil. After 45 minutes of vigorous boiling, add the irish moss and continue to boil for 15 more minutes. Add the aroma hops and corn sugar during the final 2 minutes. Sparge the hot wort into the fermenter and add cold water to make 5 gallons total. Add yeast and ferment to completion. Bottle when ready.
Review
While the kegs ended up a little over-carbonated (part of my never ending-battle with sanitation), the beer came out nice and smooth with just enough bite to be enjoyed during the sweltering July in New England days. A nice light brown color with a mild nose and full, creamy head compliment the taste nicely. I'm happy with the way this came out. My kegging abilities on the other hand...
