Dan Tyminski’s rise to fame came through years of touring as a vocalist and guitarist for bluegrass megastars, Alison Krauss and The Union Station. Then, a few years back, he became a household name when he was thrust into the spotlight as the vocalist for the hit single, "Man of Constant Sorrow," from the hit movie, O Brother Where Art Thou?. With his second solo release, Wheels, Dan Tyminski creates an ensemble of virtuoso pickers to compliment his strong tenor voice without ever getting in the way of the song.
His cast includes bassist Barry Bales, mandolin juggernaut Adam Steffey, and multi-instrumentalists, Justin Moses and Ron Stewart. There is also a guest appearance by fellow Union Station bandmate Ron Block who lends two of his songs to the album and contributes guitar. The title track, displays Tyminski’s signature guitar work and warm vocal over a self discovery, while Adam Steffey’s strong mandolin work compliments Tyminski’s finger picking prowness on the instrumental track, “Knock Knock.” With Wheels, Dan Tyminski puts together an album of touching songs and top notch picking that shows he’s more than just Alison Krauss’ guitar player.
