Ivan & Alyosha
proudly announce the release of their debut album All The Times We Had
, out August 7th on Missing Piece Records. The album, mixed by Jesse Lauter (The Low Anthem, Bobby Long) is the Seattle four piece's follow up to their well received 2011 EP Fathers Be Kind
, which won them recognition and praise from the likes of American Songwriter, Relix (On The Verge Artist), Paste and NPR's "All Things Considered" and "Tiny Desk" series. As a preview of the new album, Ivan & Alyosha are releasing the song "All The Times We Had" for download, via Rolling Stone
. The song features vocals from the band's frequent touring partner and longstanding admirer Aimee Mann. Ivan & Alyosha hit the road this August with several west coast tour dates planned.
Ivan & Alyosha are also making four acoustic demos from the album available via NoiseTrade.com
as a digital EP dubbed The Cabin Sessions
, on account of their being recorded in a Washington State cabin the band stayed in while writing the new album.
The journey of Ivan & Alyosha to date has been full of not only good times and new highs for the band's career, but also sacrifices made based on a faith in the music they make and the goals they share. The intrepid ensemble - comprised of core members Tim Wilson (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), Ryan Carbary (guitars, piano and vocals), Tim Kim (electric guitar and vocals) and Tim's brother Pete Wilson (bass and vocals), plus a revolving assortment of friends and collaborators on keyboards, drums and other instruments-has spent much of the past two years on the road, traveling the highways and back roads of America, often with wives and children in tow, building a loyal fan base with their joyous, high-energy live performances.
This winter Ivan & Alyosha spent time recording at Avast! Studio in Seattle, tracking All The Times We Had with engineer Chad Copelin. The album was then mixed by Jesse Lauter. The results are an 11-song album that effortlessly captures the warmth and immediacy of Ivan & Alyosha's live performances, lending added resonance to such lyrically compelling, melodically arresting tunes as "Be Your Man," "Running for Cover," "Don't Wanna Die Anymore," "The Fold" and the album's' bittersweetly reflective title track.
"We didn't get it perfect, but I definitely think we got it right," Tim Wilson says of the new album. "We really worked hard to get a live vibe, and to capture that inspiration that we get when we're on the road, when everybody's together and feeding off of each other."
Ivan & Alyosha have partnered with Pledge Music
to raise funds to release their new record and tour throughout the summer and fall. Fans can visit the Ivan & Alyosha Pledge Music Page
