HT on Twitter: Tuesday Convo

Record Store Day (@recordstoreday) is this Saturday and I’m more excited than a kid waiting for Christmas. I’ve got a list of must haves and maybes, checked it twice, and with the prospect of securing live Phish on wax (albeit just a 7 inch soundcheck) Saturday can’t come soon enough.

In Seattle I’ll be hitting up Sonic Boom (@sonicboomnation), Easy Street Records (@EasyStRecords) and Jive Time (@jivetimerecords) and following those Twitter accounts for updates and insights on all things Record Store Day.

There are plenty of other great record stores all across the country, like Amoeba in San Francisco (@AmoebaSF) and L.A. (@AmoebaLA), Reckless Records (@RecklessRecords) in Chicago, Other Music (@othermusic) in New York City, Waterloo Records (@WaterlooRecords) in Austin, Twist and Shout (@twistDenver) in Denver and Newbury Comics (@newburycomics) in Boston, but that’s just a few. Our Tuesday @Hidden_Track conversation, #htconvo, asked our followers about their favorite record stores, past or present. READ ON to see how some of our followers responded…

HT Twitter: Now Playing

Last Friday marked the official launch of the brand spanking new @Hidden_Track Twitter feed. To coincide with the new feed comes the first of my Twitter-centric columns where I’ll check in with a weekly look at what’s happening with @Hidden_Track and beyond.

We want the feed to be a way for you to directly interact with us here at Hidden Track as well as for our followers to tweet with each other. Just yesterday was the first of our #htconvo conversations  where we asked our followers to tweet about their first concert experiences.  We’ll have more of those discussions and plenty of other ways to get our followers involved with Hidden Track.

@Hidden_Track is also an outlet for the staff to share with you what’s currently occupying our headphones and rocking our turntables. We’re letting our followers know what’s #nowplaying with a rotating cast of contributors tuning you in to what their tuned into.

READ ON for a look at what we’ve been listening to…

The B List: 10 Artists Phish Forgot

When Phish posted 99 possible albums on Phish.com – of which one would ultimately be chosen as the Halloween Costume set – it seemed they nailed all the usual suspects and some not-so-usual ones as well. A closer look at the proposed records shows they may have missed a few.

While those listed below would by no means guarantee a selection had they been included, it was a bit surprising and sad to see a few left off the list. I mean, couldn’t they at least given us the chance to have our hopes and dreams crushed when these artists got the axe?

1. Paul Simon

One of the biggest names in music inexplicably left off the list. Where’s Graceland or Rhythm of the Saints? Is Ladysmith Black Mambazo not available? [ed. note – they were not available] Sure the albums would be no easy feats to pull off, but I always considered that part of the fun.
