Flagship Hubs – More information

The goal of a flagship Hub is to be the go-to guide on a subject. It should be full of so much information, that interested searchers should say, “Wow – that is the best page I could ever imagine on this subject. I’ll put a link to it in my blog.”

More and more people link to it = More and more backlinks to it = Better rankings in Google on highly-competitive search terms = More search traffic = More AdSense revenue for you (60%) and us (40%). We truly believe the $25-35 initial payment upon completion will just be the start to a great-earning page for both of us!

How to get started

Review our contract and return it to us by fax (1-415-367-2499) or by scan (image file). Please note that we can not accept photographs or digital signatures. You can request a contract by emailing team@hubpages.com with the subject line "Flagship Hubs".
When we confirm that we’ve received your contract, peruse the Flagship Hubs Topic Pool for a topic you’d like to work on. Email us back to claim that topic.
Complete the Flagship Hub within 7 days according to the standards below.
When a Flagship Hub is approved for payment and published, you can choose another topic from the Pool.

Note that we’re currently working with a limit of 30 Flagship Hubs per month. You will not be able to choose a topic if we’re at our month’s limit. Please check the Pool page to check the limit status.

Content standards

In order for a Hub to be “backlink-worthy”, it really has to be exceptionally high-quality, with more information and media than other pages currently available. This is why we’ve instituted these minimum standards (by all means, feel free to exceed them!):

A minimum of 1500 words, of your own, purely original writing
A minimum of 3 relevant video capsules (YouTube or Google)
A minimum of 5 relevant non-copyrighted images
At least 10 relevant, helpful links to other sources, each with your own 30-50 word description
A news capsule (or highly-relevant RSS feed), or eBay Capsule if your topic is product-related
15 relevant tags, including 2-3 common misspellings or spelling variants (if any)
Maximum 150 word succinct description of the utility of your Flagship Hub in the Summary Text (uncheck the Calculate Summary Automatically box)
Excellent thematic and aesthetic organization - please use the Capsule Ordering setup to the right (or something similar) when laying out your Hub—trust us, it will look great when you enter all the content

Additional rules:

The content must not be copied from any other source, even if you have the rights to copy from that source. It must be 100% original, and not copied elsewhere after publication and payment, either.
You should include all links in the Links Capsule, and the links should not be to “bad neighborhoods” (sketchy sites with adult, gambling or other questionable content or ads) or to affiliate sites
Please break up your text into sections (using the Heading 2 text treatment for each section title) so that it is easy to read.

Approval and payment

After being approved to work on a topic from the Flagship Hubs Topic Pool, you have 7 days to complete your Hub. Do not publish it yet.

Please send a link to team@hubpages.com with the subject line “Flagship Hub for approval” (no quotes, exactly as written). We will either approve the Flagship Hub, or send an email back telling you what else needs to be done for approval.

Payment will occur at the beginning of the month for the previous month’s Flagship Hubs that were approved for payment and published. Payment is via PayPal, so you must reside in one of the countries allowing the receipt of PayPal payments.

“Ten from Ten for Ten” Bonus

Earn an additional $10 by getting at least 10 page views from each of 10 non-HubPages sources (as shown in the Flagship Hub’s View Stats) within the first 30 days after publication. Do a little promotion of your Flagship Hub and earn an extra kicker!

Submit a link to your published Hub meeting the traffic requirements to team@hubpages.com with the subject “Ten from Ten for Ten approval” (no quotes, exactly as written). Upon confirmation, payment will occur at the beginning of the next month after approval for payment.
