MIYUKI
- Bob Dylan - Bootleg Series, Vol. 6: Bob Dylan Live 1964 - Concert at Philharmonic Hall
Genius
- Animal Collective - Sung Tongs
Hipness factor aside, this album encapsulates the one thing absent in most releases in 2004: sheer beauty.
JENNIFER
- I would have to agree with Miyuki.

Favorite Live Performance of 2004
MIYUKI
- Ethel performing Scott Johnson's suite of electroacoustic works on texts by the radical journalist I. F. Stone - Merkin Concert Hall, New York, NY - September 28
A thrilling combination of rhythmic sampling and avant-garde strings performed by the amazing quartet, Ethel. This concert was part of WNYC's New Sounds Live series. Long live NPR.
- Prince - Madison Square Garden, New York, NY - July 12
Even though the evening after the show I attended was supposed to be the bomb considering the opening acts were The Time and Sheila E., Prince more than held his own performing the whole damn show with his bad self and his NPG band.
- Demolition Doll Rods - Rudyard's, Houston, TX - March 20
Rocking-Fucking-Roll
LAURA
- The Raveonettes in Louisville, KY
They were 1 1/2 hours late to their show, pulled up outside in a car driven by a fan from the last town, walked straight onto the stage and played a great set!
- Also the Hives at Disneyworld. You know, sometimes something's missing, and it's prob'ly a
link. ;)

Favorite On-Stage Moment/Show of 2004
MIYUKI
- La Zona Rosa, Austin TX - November 29
While the Rogers Sisters were on tour with the Hives and Deadly Snakes, I broke (yet another) bass strap mid-song and my bass hit the floor. I then proceeded to throw and kick said bass back and forth across the stage while singing the rest of the song.

Classic Album or Artist You Rediscovered This Year
MIYUKI
- The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo
My band mates, Jen and Laura, turned me on to this record. I was only familiar with the Gene Clark/David Crosby version of The Byrds. I didn't know what I was missing never hearing the Gram Parsons model. Perfect for Sunday drives in the Redwood Forest. Actually, it's perfect music for Sunday drives any damn where.
LAURA
- I don't know if you can call him classic, but i can't stop listening to BIG YOUTH- "screaming target." (L.)
JENNIFER
- I've been listening to a lot more Bob Dylan and Neil Young, but I still can never get enough of Sandy Denny or Fred Neil. Who would've thought we were such folkies?

Artist You Are Most Excited About in 2005
MIYUKI
JENNIFER
- Violet Hopkins' ethereal, sometimes spooky, visual art.
|

Best New Gadget You Can't Live Without
MIYUKI
- My LG Vx6000 cell phone
Because it's loaded with the following things: Vindigo, Mapquest Mobile, Scrabble plus pictures of my wife and my cats
LAURA
- I'm still waiting for that iPod.....

Guilty Pleasure of the Year
MIYUKI
- The Music Man
Fuck all y'all, this movie rules.
- Marvelous Things' EP by Eisley
This is the best whimsical album about bats with butterfly wings, gentle snowfalls and silly sea kings ever. Not really a guilty pleasure, per se, but pleasurable nonetheless.
LAURA
- Wife Swap--the show, not the practice.
JENNIFER
- The Apprentice, America's Top Model, or any other show where people use "professional skills" to compete. there's a new one I saw where fashion designers try to outdesign each other -- fabulous.

The Retro Comeback You're Hoping for in 2005?

- 19th Century Victorian Classicism.
LAURA
- Gotta be public hangings.
JENNIFER

Selection for Person of the Year

For being a great guy.
JENNIFER
- You mean besides Paris Hilton?
