Personal Favorite On-stage Moment/Show of 2005

  • Conducting the second EO performance on Xingolati with John Medeski, G Love, Angelo Moore from Fishbone, Vince Herman, Joe Craven, Jamie Masefield, Jamie Janover, That One Guy, and too many more to list. The boat was really swaying and when the fire spinners, hula hoopers and flag dancers hit the stage it got really wild. At the end of the show all the players led the audience in a parade to the atrium of the ship. There were six stories of costumed people gathered around singing and playing percussion. I conducted from the grand piano at the bottom level and when I help up the "Om" card a big rapper grabbed the mic from me and yelled "Let's party!" And it was so.

Best Film You Saw This Year

  • Go Further - The film follows actor Woody Harrelson as he takes a small group of friends on a bio-fuelled bus-ride down the Pacific Coast Highway to show the people they encounter that there are viable alternatives to our habitual, environmentally-destructive behaviors. Great music by SCI, MMW, Michael Franti and others.
