Best Albums of 2005
  • in no particular order- Ween - Shinola, Vol. 1 - Ween proves on this collection of outtakes that even their throw away/demo recordings are better than 90% of the stuff that is being officially released by other groups.
  • Thelonious Monk - Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall - Legendary. About time this stuff saw the light of day.
  • Stephen Malkamus - Face the Truth - I'm not sure I've ever heard any music like it before. Totally unique, inspired, and forward thinking.

Personal Favorite Onstage Moment/Show of 2005
  • In February I got to sit in with Gov’t Mule for the first time. Let me just say to all you guitar players out there, you haven't lived 'till you've traded licks with Warren. It's an unbelievable rush to be on stage with that guy and have him look at you and give you the nod as if he's saying "take it."

Classic Album or Artist You Rediscovered This Year
  • Miles Davis - The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions  -  This box set has become an obsession of mine. It's almost a problem how much I've been listening to these discs. Yeah. Listening to it right now, actually. It's Miles-Dig it!

Best Film You Saw This Year
  • No Direction Home: Bob Dylan. It's Scorsese doing Dylan. Duh.

Best New Gadget You Can't Live Without
  • I hate gadgets.

New Hobby Discovered This Year
  • Definitely text messaging. I went into to the year being a total anti-texting guy, and now over half of my phone calls are text messages...if that makes any sense

Guilty Pleasure of the Year
  • America's Next Top Model. Yeah, I said it.

Person of the Year
  • I'd say it's a toss up between Michael Moore, who I've felt should've been man of the year on someone's list since Roger & Me was released, or C Ray Nagin, the mayor of New Orleans, who did a great job at exposing the Bush administration's racist asses this year.

A Memorable Moment From the Road in 2005
  • Oh, man. There were way too many stories to pick out one as the best. Saratoga Springs, Baltimore, Northern and Southern California, and New Orleans all provided me with stories that I'll never forget for as long I live. And I'm sure my friends will be sick of hearing me tell those stories since I love to tell a good story.
