Glide's 5th Annual Best of 2007: From the Artists' Perspective

By The Glide Staff

Everyone makes their standard "best of's," top 10s" and "year in review" lists, but each December we like to take that model a couple of steps further. We go straight to the artists to see where they found inspiration over the past twelve months, and we don't stop with just album choices. We dig a bit deeper and go for a broader picture of the past year in art. From classic moments on the road to their guilty pleasure confessions, this is a panoramic snapshot of "the best of 2007," and a peek into what to expect in '08.

Best Album(s) of 2007

  • The National -  Boxer
It’s a musician's album. We have been huge National fans since the release of Alligator. The only problem- Boxer may be TOO good. I'm worried that The National is going to somehow put us out of our jobs.

Favorite Live Performance of 2007
  • Wilco @ ACL

Personal Favorite On-stage Moment/Show of 2007
  • Emo's Austin - Saluting the crowd with a Jaeger bomb after a triumphant solo.

Artist You Are Most Excited About In 2008

  • I'm very excited about the construction of the Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator project in Geneva. If the impact of accelerated two particles reveals a discrepancy against the total energy of the collision, this means that a fraction of the energy might have risen to a fourth dimension, in effect ratifying "string theory."

Your Latest Guilty Pleasure

  • The new Britney Spears record

  • Dune books not written by Frank Herbert

A Memorable/Humorous/Classic Moment on the tour bus/road in 2007

  • hmmm

Great YouTube or Viral Video You Saw This Year

  • The Battle at Kruger - an epic clash between Water Buffalo, Lion, and Crocodile. The stakes are high: the prey battling the predator on the wild plains of South Africa.
