Best Album(s) of 2008

Kings of Leon, “Only By the Night.” The Album has incredible melodies that are artistic yet still catchy. The instrumentation has dramatically matured since the first album. Great work making an album that is modern and classic at the same time.

Favorite Song(s) of 2008

“See These Bones” by Nada Surf is a great song from a great album. Mathew Caws once again proves himself as a brilliant lyricist and a catchy writer.

Your Personal Favorite On-stage Moment/Show of 2008

My favorite performance of 2008 was The Swell Season at Bonnaroo. Glen Hansard made the large festival performance feel incredibly intimate. The band was incredibly passionate and moving, even though some of its more intimate moments were interrupted by Les Claypool's interesting jams on the other side of the festival. The Solo performance of “Say It to Me Now” put all of the other artists to shame.

Classic Album or Artist You Discovered This Year

“Remain in Light” by the Talking Heads. I hadn't listened to much of them until I got this album on a whim. The production and songwriting is very original, and the song “Once in a Lifetime” is the perfect song to wake up too.

Best Film You Saw This Year

The Dark Knight.

Favorite new gadget, technology, site or application you can't live without

iPhone 3G. My life is in this phone. Losing it is like losing an arm.

Artist You Are Most Excited About In 2009 (any medium)

Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights.

Your Latest Guilty Pleasure

Rick Astley's music video for his smash hit Never Gonna Give You Up!!!!!!

What should President Obama change first in 2009?

He should change the American Flag into a sweet picture of a bald eagle fighting a sea monster (maybe a kraken or a water dragon)
Or he could mandate a day once a month for people to talk in foreign accents.

A Memorable/Humorous/Classic Moment on the tour bus/road in 2008

We somehow managed to total our van by smashing it into a 4 foot yellow poll in the middle of a parking lot in Los Angeles going 10 miles an hour, in the middle of our national tour.

*Bonus question – great YouTube or viral video you saw this year

The zombie kid likes turtles and so do I! Jonathan is an inspiration to us all!
