I've been a fan of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals for a few years now, so I guess me using the term "always" might be confusing to you. What I was alluding to was that unfortunately the Nocturnals almost always get cast to the side as an unimportant, invisible, rent-a-band. They co-founded the band, co-write the music, and have been out there touring their collective asses off for almost 5 years now. So, while I understand that you were only messing around with an off the cuff idea, it's frutstrating to read yet another writer totally miss what the band brings to the table. Scott Tournet is an incredible lead guitarist who in a couple years will be mentioned in the same breath as Warren Haynes. I'm very interested to see HIM sit in with the Mule and push Warren a little. Matt Burr on drums and Bryan Dondero on bass use tasteful old-school gear and play to the group and the song instead of being flashy and selfish (unlike most jam-band rhythm sections). To be honest, I'm WAY more interested in watching the Nocturnals than the Mule because they put on a SHOW. The last few times I've seen the Mule it seems as if half of them might fall asleep on stage. Maybe it's due to age, endless touring, or three hour shows, but for whatever reason they just seem a little "tired". The Nocturnals are young and hungry and a true BAND. Thanks for listening to my perspective. A passionate fan.

I should look before I post. Just found this Mule set on eTree:
http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=509501

Looks like Grace sat in on Southern Man. It also looks like I'll be downloading that set tonight.

Yeah, G&TNs have been opening for Mule on this last tour, which is why that thought about her joining the band even popped into my head. I think they'd compliment each other so well, even though she'd clearly lose a bit of herself in the process.

Anyway, Josh is definitely right about the two Wilco songs being played before I got there, even though I had mentioned how we missed the first half hour. But I find it funny how someone can "rarely read" something and yet know there's always misinformation and lousy writing. How would a rare reader know such a thing? Baffling!

Josh reminds me of the guy who hated bass players.

I'm catching Gov't Mule October 6th in Philly, and you'll never guess who's opening...

If you said Grace Potter and the Nocturnals you win a chicken dinner.

Uh, Wilco played several songs off Sky Blue Sky. they even opened with 'You Are My Face'. 'Impossible Germany' came later. Now that I've had an excuse to post here, I'd like to let you know that I rarely read this magazine, and when I do I'm put off by the downright lousy writing and misinformation.
