AfterNews: RANA / Fab Faux / Mother Hips

[Rana – Circa 1998]

This weekend brings the return of RANA for a rare pre-Midnight gig at Sullivan Hall in New York City tomorrow night. The Jersey-bred rockers hit the stage around 9:30 and will fulfill the rockphecy until around 11:30. The action continues at midnight with Michetti featuring Chris Michetti and Greg Stukey of RAQ. For a taste of each band check out this YouTube playlist of an old RANA show and this clip of Michetti ripping Star Child.

In other NYC concert news, those of us who hate Terminal 5 will be happy to see that The Fab Faux are heading back to the Beacon for a special show on September 12. Our favorite Beatles cover band will play all of Revolver for the first set and ticketholders will vote on what the band will play for set two. Pretty cool concept. Tickets are on sale now for AMEXers and the public onsale starts tomorrow at Noon.

Before we go, we wanted to wish a very Happy Birthday to one of our first readers/commenters – Newms of East Village Radio – who will celebrate the occasion by hosting a mini Mothers Hips run starting tomorrow night at Union Hall in Brooklyn’s Park Slope and continuing on Saturday at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan. If you’re lucky, the Hips will bust out their magnificent cover of Neil Young’s Cowgirl In The Sand.  Happy Birthday, Mike!
