AfterNews: The Police Announce Final Show

The Police will end their extremely successful reunion tour at the World’s Greatest Arena, NYC’s Madison Square Garden, on August 7. As we previously reported tickets will be sold through a special one-day pledge drive on June 14. While a $5,000 donation gets you into dinner, a party, the soundcheck and the show itself; plebes like myself can donate $150 for a pair of ducats.

There’s been a lot of talk about nostalgia lately, and many have shrugged off this tour as a money grab. Personally, I never thought I’d get to see this band, and if the wide-load shit-eating grin on my face at the shows I saw was wrong, I don’t want to be right. Now that everyone who wants to see The Police has gotten the chance, I do think it’s good that the boys are putting the band to rest. Plus, they’re going out with a major fundraiser that’s going to give my city new trees and help fund our public television stations. Sweet Deal!

Check out today’s NYT article on Sting, Stewart and Andy to read all about their love for public television, and why they’re ending the tour in NYC.

  1. I was hoping for Central Park, myself. After enjoying the (simply) entertaining Halloween concert, I think I might be passing this one up.
