This year, the festival will feature a heavy dose of contemporary folk and roots acts, which includes HT faves The Felice Brothers, Yim Yames, Dawes, The Avett Brothers & Blitzen Trapper, but will also nod to its storied past as New Orleans’ legends the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will make their return to the fest for the first time since the mid-1960s & will welcome a number of special guests to the stage with them during their set on Sunday afternoon at the Quad Stage.

Finally, on Oct. 19, Sir Elton John will release his 29th studio album called The Union. For his latest release, John has looked back to his early days of country-infused, piano rock by teaming up with one of his early influences Leon Russell & uber-producer T Bone Burnett. The 15-track record, which will also feature guest appearances from Neil Young, Brian Wilson & Booker T. Jones (Booker T. & The MGs), is said to have a mix of styles ranging from “Stones-like rockers, Country-tinged ballads, gospel & even a Sinatra-like weeper similar to something torn from the grooves of In the Wee Small Hours” according to John’s longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.
