Bloggy Goodness: Bowery In Beantown
The fine folks at Bowery Presents have been a staple of NYC’s live music scene booking shows around town since the mid ’90s. The concert promoters, who own and book the Bowery Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, Terminal 5 and the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, will now expand their empire by opening their first club outside the NYC metropolitan area as they’ve signed a long term deal to be the exclusive presenter of live music at the Royale club in Boston. The 1,000-person space, which was formerly known as the Roxy, “will be outfitted for live music and have about 100 concerts a year” according to the Times with the first shows to take place this April.

Stoked about the Bowery presents news. The Roxy was always a crappy venue that just recently had it’s capacity cut by the city due to a stabbing. When Axis/Avalon were torn down to pave the way for the new House of Blues, The Roxy inherited a few of the acts those venues used to hold, but since the House of Blues has opened they’ve really monopolized things in the Bean. Maybe Bowery will give them a run for their money?
