Bloggy Goodness: Rock And Hard Place

Maybe because we’ve been reporting about the endless stream of festival announcements we let this slip by, but I was totally unaware that their was even such a thing as Hard Rock Park – located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The world’s first Rock & Roll Theme Park features attractions with names like Led Zeppelin The Ride, Reggae River Falls and the Roadies Stunt Show – check out the interactive map for more. The park officially opens on May 9th, but will be conducting their “Sound Check” (how clever) beginning April 15th.

Let’s see what else is happening today:

Finally, the folks behind the highly successful Rock Star and Guitar Hero video games have teamed up with Sony BMG for their latest effort in music fantasy games – Record Label – which will hit stores this summer.

The game “challenges players to work the trenches and strive to push the bands in their stable up the charts, and dominate the industry by any means necessary” which frankly sounds about as exciting as Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge. The game also touts a hefty price tag of $349, but check out the deluxe packaging. What kid wouldn’t want their own faux office set up? I can’t wait for their next game – Music Blogger – we’d totally kick as at that one.

We’re still scratching our heads on whether or not this thing is for real – but who pulls an April Fool’s Day joke a week in? Anyone got the real scoop?

  1. From the Record Label game article: “So whether you’re paying off DJs under the table for additional radio play, faking your own artists’ album reviews, or simply determining what private information you want the spyware on their CDs to collect for you… ”

Yeah, ummm…thanks Sony, you GAVE me a virus with a Bad Plus CD a couple of years ago and I had to replace my computer because of you. Thanks so much!

  2. TMH – We’re waiting to receive the signed disc before we announce the winner. Hope to have it in hand early next week.
