Brick Tamland Mourns Himself at His Own Funeral in New ‘Anchorman 2’ Trailer

Anchorman 2 Poster

Brick Tamland is a man of much wisdom. (In the original Anchorman film, he once remarked of his own genius: “People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream, and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.) So the initial seconds of this new trailer for Anchorman 2 are both horrifying and tragic, as we gaze upon the funeral of modern comedy’s greatest dunce (played by the irreplaceable Steve Carell).

Then Brick shows up to speak a few words about…himself, leading to an interruption by the Gang’s head honcho, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), who tells informs him that, in fact, he is not dead.

The rest of the trailer is pure comedic bliss, giving us some closer glimpses into the plot: The world’s favorite news team (which also includes Paul Rudd’s Brian Fantana and David Koechner’s Champ Kind) venture to New York to take on positions at the Global News Network, where they encounter a black female anchor named Linda Jackson and a producer played by a bearded Ed Helmes.

There’s also an RV filled with bowling balls and spiders, confusion between gays and vampires, and an all-out in-studio brawl.

Anchorman 2 will be released on December 20th.

“Cruise control just regulates speed — it doesn’t steer.” — Brian Fantana
