Eddie Vedder, Metallica, John Mayer and Tom Waits will headline this year’s Bridge School Benefit, where they’ll be joined by Tegan & Sara, Regina Spektor and Jerry Lee Lewis. Neil and Peggy Young have put on the mostly acoustic benefit every year since 1986, which this year takes place on October 27th and 28th at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Vedder, Young and Waits together on the Shoreline stage would give a lot of people a downstairs smile, we thinks.
And some good news for your iPod — collections from the past two decades of Bridge School benefits are available on iTunes: “The Bridge School Collection, Vol. 1 and The Bridge School Collection, Vol. 2 features songs from the past 20 years of the Benefit Concert. Through the generosity of the artists and Apple, over 90% of the proceeds will benefit The Bridge School for the first 6 months of sales.”

It’s always great when artists get together for a cause.
