Briefly: Jim James Tells Rolling Stone MMJ Aiming to Play New Year’s Eve in Boston Because Phish Has A Lock on MSG

While Phish hasn’t revealed where (if?) they will play for New Year’s this year, a tip from My Morning Jacket front man Jim James puts the NYE Run back at Madison Square Garden in New York City. James told Rolling Stone associate editor Andy Greene that MMJ is “close to finalizing” a New Years Eve gig in Boston because “Phish booked MSG for, like, the next 4 years.”

Nothing’s confirmed until its posted on Phish.com, but we tend to believe Jim James. We’ll keep our eyes out for My Morning Jacket’s NYE show announcement as well.

  1. He prob should keep his mouth shut bc phish is under contract and i guarentee that they have a back out clause in the contract. must back out so long b4 the event or be charged full amout kinda thing like every multi year contract has. Maybe mmj should worry about locking down their own nye venu rather than trying to cockblock other bands. The best band should have the best venue in the best city right????
