Bloggy Goodness: 2009 – Year of the Boss?

The aughts have been quite the decade for New Jersey’s native son Bruce Springsteen. The Rumson resident is having one of the most creative and prolific periods of his career. Persistent rumors had the E Street Band hanging it up after their world tour came to an end, but it’s looking like ’09 is shaping up to be another big year for The Boss and his long time band. As we previously reported, Bruce & Co. will be the halftime entertainment at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, FL. To promote their upcoming appearance, NBC will be debuting the band’s brand new song, Workin’ On A Dream, via a NFL highlight music video video this Sunday night during halftime of the network’s broadcast of the Redskins/Cowboys NFC East battle.

The song will be the first taste of the band’s still untitled new album that is expected to drop early next year, right around the time of President-Elect Obama’s inauguration.

Finally, as we head into the holiday gift giving season we know that money might be a bit tight this year, especially for treating yourself to some new music. Luckily, we’d like to point you in the direction of some free tunes to fill up your iPod that should help you get through the masses at the mall over the next few weeks. We’ve given the HT seal of approval to grab the following free downloads – Light In The Attic: Fall 2008 Sampler – that features the likes of Roriguez and The Black Lips; Anti Records Digital Sampler -that features the likes of Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd and DeVotchKa; and finally What Made Milwaukee Famous has a new digital EP called the Sugarhill Sessions. So go download and enjoy!
